Short-Term Rental Property

In unincorporated Peoria County, Short-Term Rentals, regardless of whether they are considered a “bed and breakfast establishment,” a “hotel,” a “motel,” a “boarding house,” a “rooming house,” or any other type of commercial establishment where rooms are rented at a daily rate to the general public, are classified as Overnight Accommodations. This includes short-term rental properties advertised on websites, such as AirBnB and VRBO.

In most zoning districts, Overnight Accommodations require the approval of a Special Use by the Peoria County Board.

For more information regarding Short-Term Rentals and/or the Special Use approval process, please contact a Planner in the Department of Planning & Zoning.
