Posted on December 5, 2023 at 8:46 AM by Gretchen Pearsall

Contractors hit another milestone in the Health and Human Services build yesterday with the first concrete pour. As anyone working on a pour knows, you're on the concrete's time. Illinois Civil Contractors Inc. (ICCI) was still on site last night for troweling and saw cutting when the photo was taken at 10:35 pm.

Construction of the Health and Human Services building, at the site of the former Peoria City/County Health Department building, continues to make great progress. Masons have built the stairwell and elevator towers, and the large floor where the community room will be near Sheridan Road is ready to be poured. The crane is on-site, and steel is going up rapidly.

Once complete, the new building will house the Peoria City/County Health Department, Regional Office of Education, Coroner's Office, and Sustainability and Resource Conservation.

  • Underground plumbing is finishing up in the morgue area.
  • Gravel for the base is being installed in the community room.
  • Finisher is getting the community room and stair tower 3 ready for concrete floors next week.
  • Gravel is being installed on the east parking lot in preparation for curb and pavement.
