First of Three Co-Defendants Found Guilty of Murder

September 27, 2023, Peoria, IL – Today, prosecutors with the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office were able to convict Jeremy Moore Jr., 20, of First-Degree Murder, a Class M Felony, for shooting and killing Jerry Snipes Jr., 17, in the early morning hours of October 6, 2021.  Testimony during the three-day jury trial revealed Snipes was shot ten times, mostly in the back, by both a handgun and a shotgun, indicating that two different people shot him.

Moore is the first of three co-defendants to go to trial. Gary A. Irby, 21, and Tyranique White, 19, have also been charged in the case.  The state has alleged that along with Moore, Irby was the other trigger man.  Irby is set for trial in November.

Because the jury found Moore personally discharged a firearm, he is eligible for up to a life sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections.   His sentencing is set for November 3.
