Peoria County Files to Intervene in CO2 Pipeline Case

September 27, 2023, Peoria, IL – Peoria County has filed a petition to intervene in the case involving a company that plans to build a carbon dioxide (CO2) pipeline in the county.  In Case Number 23-0475 before the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), Wolf Carbon Solution US LLC has requested authority to construct and operate a CO2 pipeline through Illinois.  That pipeline would pass through parts of Peoria County.

For months now the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office has been following this case as well as other CO2 pipeline requests that have been filed with the ICC throughout the state.  The ICC is the government agency that will decide on those requests and a decision is expected sometime next year.  Only parties that intervene are allowed input in the matter.

“The proposed pipeline impacts all parts of Peoria County - our citizens, our infrastructure, and our public safety.  I filed to make certain we have a voice on what that impact will be.” Jodi Hoos, Peoria County State’s Attorney
